About Q

Q Methodology is a quasi-quantitative approach to studying people’s attitudes and perceptions. The Q Surveys presented here are actually called Q Sorts. Q sorting is unique because the survey participant is able to view all the “questions” at the same time and arrange them respectively to each other. This experience does several things: it allows for the participant to learn how they feel about a number of items by operationalizing their definitions and feelings at the time of the survey and this creates an opportunity for an “objective” way to study  subjectivity on the part of the researcher. A win-win!
